Small Scale Potter in Boise, ID

Remember the early days of childhood, after a rainy day, sloshing around in the puddles and getting dirty?  I grew up on the ranch in Idaho loving the creeks after a rain, teeming with all sorts of critters and the lovely soft mud!

What shaped me as a potter and artist was visits to my moms best friends, Di and Dritch Bowler down in the Hagerman Valley at their studio and home overlooking the beautiful Snake River.

It was there, sitting at the wheel when I was 4 years old, Di straddling me at the kick wheel, her hands cupping mine as she threw, that I fell in love with pottery.

What forged my aesthetic as an artist is the beautiful great outdoors of Southern Idaho. Its natural ruggedness and an appreciation for all things organic helped to shape my style. I celebrate natural forms and textures and meditate on the relationship between nature and form.

Through my exploration of clay I hope to inspire in others the beauty of the Earth, all its natural elements and to bring that beauty into the spaces we live and work.
